We Blog In Public Dot Com*

I was beginning to think Calacanis's one weak spot, a major one, in this whole Comscore traffic hoo-ha is the fact he doesnt make traffic numbers public on his blogs, even if it's with those crappy Sitemeters. Denton has long been transparent in that regard and Jason needs to catch up. But he says here in the comments that he's now going to fix that. Good to hear. I'll try not to count down the days of WINPublicStatsgate.

*How's that for a little Josh Harris reference?

Hi, Young Andew!

Since all of you unattractive people seem to hang out at the same bars and stuff, I was wondering if you could pass this message along to Denton and Calacanis: "NO ONE GIVES A SHIT!"

You don't see Google and Yahoo trading insults back and forth do you? And you wanna know why, because Yahoo and Google know that the enemy is Microsoft. I would think that since Microsoft just issued a fahking press release saying that its new Blog Network was "ala Denton and Calacanis" that the alarm bells would have gone on in that spacecraft where Denton keeps his "Plan 9" and in that little tree hole where Calacanis keeps his pot of gold.

Transparency strikes again.

I disagree with "Jason needs to catch up" in regards to publishing numbers. He is not a public-owned entity, and like any other private business he has the right to do his thing without letting the world know every (or any) aspect of operations. I'd argue that Jason not only should continue to keep the traffic numbers confidential, but that he should also feel free to run his company without needing to disclose any private information whatsoever. Just keep the blogs running and keep the money flowing in. Everyone's a winner.

Oh, wait, I forgot, this is part of a pissing contest, not a real business to make money. Nevermind. You can't measure cocks without pulling your pants down.

Actually, Brian Van, I think you're absolutely wrong, like a witch is wrong when she tries to turn into a black cat but turns into a white one, instead. Jason is accusing Denton and Co of numbers fraud, and c'mon...? We're all pretty sure that happened: since Gawker apparently now beats CSI: Miami. Um, anyway (pause to think about what I just typed). If he shares his numbers, then it should be easy to tell just what the fuck is going on, since you can just compare sitemeters or something. Why all the cock talk? Was that a metrosexual rant?

Is it okay if I leave a metrosexual rant? Because I have a penis that needs reviews? Let me know, Brian!

Metrosexual rants? Ummm, I guess, only if you want to add to the confusion of modern gender roles! This ain't my party anyway. Feel free to piss in the corner.

Seriously, no one really cares if Denton is frauding his numbers unless they're working in Audi's or Nokia's ad-buying department. I care just as much about visitor numbers as I do about box office figures. And if I need to clarify, "100 million in a single weekend" or "indie film that made back 50 times its budget" does not mean I'm kissing its ass.

Of course, no one's kissing my ass for saying that, either. So it's all pointless. I think I'll walk to the cooler again.
