The men looked sharp in their uniform of black and white.

Most wore a standard black tie or skinny version.

Frocks, as expected, were either strapless, halter or Grecian-inspired one-shoulder designs. The fishtail silhouette also prevailed.

She had piled the diamonds on, as many as she could, as well as dangly pearl earrings.

White was mostly absent, instead pastel shades - pale mint, pink, grey, lemon and gold shone through. Bright red, deep purple, inky blue and canary yellow also made a statement.

She looked like a flower fairy in her pink gown.
