Loren Feldman and Black Tech Blogging: Do You Feel Much Safer?

I had at least four other things I was planning to blog to you fine looking people this morning, not including last night's pow-wow-wubzy with my sister and 99 or a timely quote from Transportation & Infrastructure Expert Elizabeth Spiers on the World's Worst Bridges, but Nichelle tipped us off to this bit of video rage that sidetracked me. I'm at an unusual loss of words but here's what I sent around earlier to YM's exclusive email-only newsletter subscribers (ok, that would be one unsolicited Nick Denton):

Holy fuckin shit. Loren Feldman is usually good for a well-intentioned rib poking but goddamn, he crossed a line and put them ribs back in a cage 150 years ago.

I'm all for linkbaiting and making ridiculous noise online but jesus, this is race baiting of the worst kind and ultimately - it's biggest problem - not funny. And a lot of effort was put into it! I hope this gets covered on 'wag AND Gawker. Get Balk on it, he's your black beat guy.

Not even the quickie Denton gay joke can redeem it. Sorry Loren, while we appreciate your contribution of producing the Ten Greatest Seconds of Video Podcasting Commentary - more here - please leave this type of stuff to those of us who can boast (mockingly or not!) about having a multi-cultural staff (does Jew and non-Jew count?) and audience.
